Twitter Video Download Troubleshooting Guide

When Twitter Video Downloads Don't Work

Most of the time, downloading Twitter videos with Tweeload is smooth and simple. But sometimes things don't go as planned. If you're having trouble, you're probably running into one of these common issues. Let's go through them one by one.

"No Video Found" Error

This is the most common issue people run into. Here's what usually causes it:

  • The tweet doesn't have a video. This sounds obvious, but sometimes tweets have images or cards that look like they might have video, but they don't. Make sure the tweet actually contains a video or GIF.
  • You copied the wrong link. Make sure you're copying the link to the specific tweet, not a link to someone's profile or a Twitter search page. The URL should have "/status/" in it.
  • The link is from a Twitter Space or live stream. Tweeload works with regular tweet videos. Live streams and Spaces aren't downloadable.

Private Account Videos

If the account that posted the video is private (their tweets are protected), you won't be able to download the video. This is by design. Private accounts restrict who can see their content, and we respect that.

There's no workaround for this. The video must be from a public account.

The Tweet Was Deleted

If the original tweet has been deleted by the user or removed by Twitter, the video is gone too. Once a tweet is deleted, there's no way to access the video anymore. If you see a tweet you like, it's a good idea to download the video sooner rather than later.

Slow Downloads

If the download starts but it's taking forever, it's usually one of these:

  • Your internet connection is slow. Try switching from mobile data to WiFi, or vice versa. A quick speed test can help you figure out if your connection is the issue.
  • The video file is large. Long videos in high quality (1080p) can be quite large. If speed is an issue, try downloading a lower quality version like 480p or 720p.
  • Twitter's servers are slow. This happens occasionally, especially during big events when Twitter traffic spikes. Just wait a few minutes and try again.

Download Starts But File Is Corrupted

If the video file downloads but won't play, try these steps:

  • Clear your browser cache and try downloading again.
  • Try a different browser. Sometimes browser extensions or settings can interfere with downloads.
  • Make sure you have enough storage space on your device.

iPhone Specific Issues

On iPhone, downloading files from the browser can be a little different than on Android. If you're having trouble:

  • Make sure you're using Safari (other browsers on iPhone have download limitations).
  • After the video loads, tap the share icon and choose Save Video or Save to Files.
  • Check your iPhone's Settings to make sure Safari is allowed to download files.

The URL Isn't Working

Make sure you're using a proper tweet URL. These formats work:

  • https://x.com/username/status/123456789

Links to Twitter Moments, Lists, or profile pages won't work. You need the direct link to a specific tweet.

Still Having Problems?
