Ever tried to repost a TikTok somewhere else? On Twitter, on Instagram, in a group chat? Then you've seen the problem. TikTok's Save video option works fine, but it stamps a giant watermark across the corner with the TikTok logo and the original creator's username. The video plays in a tiny square in the middle of your screen, and the rest is just watermark.
This is intentional. The watermark exists to drive people back to TikTok when the video gets reshared. Strategically, it works. Aesthetically, it looks like spam.
If you actually want a clean version, you need a tool that pulls the source file before the watermark gets composited onto it. Ticload does that, and a few other things TikTok's native save doesn't.
TikTok's whole growth strategy in the early days was watermark-driven. People would save TikToks to camera roll, repost them on Instagram or Twitter, and the watermark would do the marketing. New users would see a watermarked TikTok in the wild, wonder what TikTok was, and download the app.
The strategy worked. TikTok grew fast partly because of cross-platform reposting. So they kept the watermark as the default for any save.
For an individual user, though, the watermark is the difference between a clean repost and a tacky one. Bigger creator accounts spend money on tools or workflows to get clean versions specifically so their reposts don't look ripped from somewhere else.
What it can't do: private account videos, region-locked content, or stuff you can't see when you're not logged in.
In the TikTok app, tap the Share icon (the arrow on the right side of the video) and pick Copy link.
On the TikTok website, just grab the URL from the address bar.
Open ticload.com in a browser. Paste the URL into the input field.
You'll see a few options after the page loads. The No watermark MP4 is the default and the one most people want. Click the download button next to it and the file saves to your device.
What you get: a clean MP4 with the original audio. No TikTok logo, no username overlay, no extra branding. Same quality as the original upload.
TikTok added the photo slideshow format a couple of years ago, and it's now everywhere. Carousel of still images, audio track playing underneath, transitions in between. They look like videos but technically they're not.
Most TikTok downloaders fail on slideshows entirely. Some grab only the first image. A few grab the audio but not the images, which is useless.
Ticload handles the whole thing. You get all the images plus the audio track, and you can either rebuild the slideshow in a video editor or just grab whichever individual frames you want. Most free tools don't do this.
Watermark-free by default is the big one. You don't have to click into a settings menu or pay for a premium version. Open the site, paste the link, get a clean file.
Slideshow support. Rare among free TikTok tools and genuinely useful if you save a lot of slideshow-format content.
Actual HD. A lot of free TikTok downloaders cap you at 480p or 720p to push you toward a paid tier. Ticload gives you 1080p when the source has it.
No signup, no install, no daily limits.
The bookmarklet is great for power users. If you save TikToks regularly, set it up once and you'll save yourself a copy-paste step every time.
If you repost or archive TikToks at all, Ticload is the one we keep coming back to.
TikTok's built-in Save video: fast, free, watermarked. Fine for personal viewing, not great for reposting.
Screen recording: works, but you lose quality, capture your phone's UI, and end up with a non-standard frame rate. Audio sync can drift on longer videos.
Generic multi-platform downloaders: usually broken for TikTok because TikTok updates its CDN URL format more often than most platforms. The tools that try to handle ten platforms at once tend to be a few weeks behind on TikTok specifically.
Third-party TikTok mirrors: occasionally work, often give you a re-watermarked version with someone else's branding. Avoid.
Ticload's edge is that it's maintained specifically for TikTok format changes and updates when something breaks.
TikTok's terms of service do restrict commercial reuse of other people's content without permission. For personal use (saving for offline, sharing in a private group chat, archiving), nobody is going to come after you. For reposting on a public account, especially a monetized one, things get murkier.
The general norm: credit the original creator. If you're reposting a TikTok somewhere else, mention the original handle in your caption. Most creators are fine with reposts as long as they're credited and not being monetized off-platform. Mass-reposting other people's content for ad revenue is what gets accounts in trouble.
Use common sense. Don't pass someone else's work off as yours.
"Video not available." Account is private or the video was removed. There's no workaround.
No 1080p option appears. The original was uploaded at a lower resolution. You can't upscale what isn't there. This happens a lot with older TikToks (2020 and earlier) before TikTok improved its upload pipeline.
The slideshow downloads as a zip but the audio plays out of sync. The frame rate on TikTok slideshows is non-standard. You'll need to recombine the images and audio in a video editor at the correct timing. Most modern editors handle this fine; just import the audio file separately and align it manually.
The watermark-free version still has a watermark. Make sure you clicked the No watermark option specifically, not the default download button. Some browsers cache the watermarked version if you've used a different tool before.
Plenty of viral TikToks end up reposted to Twitter and X. If you've grabbed a clean version with Ticload and want to share it as a tweet, our Twitter GIF download guide covers the reverse direction (saving Twitter clips). For the Twitter side of your downloader toolkit in general, Tweeload handles X videos and GIFs the same way Ticload handles TikToks.
Paste the link, click No watermark, save the file. Three steps for clean TikTok videos. Slideshows work too. The whole thing takes under a minute once you know the flow.
